Wishing you the most comfortable spot on the sofa, the safest port in the storm and the least incontinent of beagles in the coming New Year. And thank you all for softening the blow.

Definitely one of the best New Year's wishes ever. Back at ya. Especially the Beagle bit.
ReplyDeleteI've declared 2009 the year of "thanks for thinking of me, but I'm not taking on any new responsibilities this year." I made a to-do list at work by writing all those jobs I've been trying to find time to get done and taping them to the window. But mostly I want some time to get back into my garden and to do some things just because I want to . . . I'm keenly aware how lucky I am to have a job (although I'm resisting the urge to feel guilty). I'd just like to get back to having a little time left over to grow things . . . including children and relationships.
ReplyDeleteAs a human who lives with two beagles who always claim the most comfortable spot on the sofa and and are my safest port in the storm, I loved your post.
ReplyDeleteI hope 2009 is wonderful for you. I've been listening to you for years and was horrified to hear that you were leaving. You deserve the best.
Ahhhhhhhhhhhhh!

ReplyDeleteKetzel,
ReplyDeleteI just heard your story on CNN and understand. I went through a one year job search in 2002. I was laid off shortly after 9/11 and did many things to keep a few dollars coming in such as throw newspapers, clean garages, etc. Fortunately, my wife kept her job during this time so we did not lose benefits. Best wishes for you in 2009 and I'll be back to post again.

Hi Ketzel,
ReplyDeleteOf all the people they could have taken off NPR and I know just about every voice on there...not yours! I was so sad when your series took that twist last weekend. From having been laid off myself I can report that I went on to have two of the best years of my life! I'm sure you will too!
