It's almost time to blow out of town. 8 hours and counting. Journey begins crack of dawn tomorrow from Portland to San Jose, CR. Sleep a few hours at an airport hotel, then take an in-country flight southwest to Palma Sur, then a (sometimes tempestuous) boat trip to Drake Bay down the Pacific Coast, then a pick-up and delivery to a hammock with my name on it and a cabin on stilts.
My hope is to be sending audio postcards! as soon as I get my bearings. Do hope you'll join me on the adventure. And now, to sleep and to dream!

Could there be a more beautiful view than the snow-covered mountains out the window here at the Salt Lake City airport? Makes the lousy egg and cheese wrap infinitely more edible. Next stop, Atlanta.
ReplyDeleteThe breakfast burritos at McDonalds are pretty good but the line is usually long.
ReplyDeleteDidn't realize you were leaving so soon. Have safe travels and take lots of pics. Will look forward to hearing all about it.
Adios!
Don't sweat the small stuff, Ketzel.
ReplyDeleteI've always enjoyed your posts on NPR
for their fresh approaches, completeness
in facts and your just 'plain' sharing the glory of your explorations.
That is your salvation, your ability to
share your joy of the revelations about
what you find in the real world.
Just because NPR can no longer afford you,
doesn't mean that other networks haven't taken
notice.
Frankly, I'm surprised that you haven't started pioneering your own cable/sat program. Discovery would be a fool not to
make you an offer.
There should of been a recording crew
attending to you as you arrived in Costa Rica.
If the run to Costa Rica was just for yourself
I understand.
Enjoy the rich flora of where you are now.
