I've been doing some of that myself! Other than taking pictures of my 2 housecats, my hobbies are becoming very similar to theirs. . . watching the birdfeeder. . . taking naps . . .chowing down on delicious carb-laden food. . .I've got no complaints!
If you start posting pictures of your pets with funny hats on, or telling us what you had for lunch, I'll know you need to get out more... so far you're o.k.
I believe you know have evidence of what your pets true jobs are: keeping the bed warm and to meditate! My dogs try to convince me they are patrolling the farm...Again, this may turn into your new line of work: photography of animals? Hats or not? Spring will take you outside to at least take pictures of your pets basking in the sun, right?
Not to get all psychobabble-oid (psychobabble-ish?), BUT...what you are describing sure as hell sounds like the same grieving stuff I've been going through since my mother died last year. No, NPR didn't spawn you, but huge loss = huge loss. Your ups, downs, and need for more sleep than seems appropriate for anyone over 7 months old is all part of the process. It will get better, especially if you are indeed going to Costa Rica (my vote) or Belize or Narnia or Wonderland.
I agree, Terri. The closest I've ever felt to the way I do on and off these days was when my Dad died. Particularly the confusion, forgetfulness, fatigue. I don't find that remotely psychobabble-oid (though non-psycho types do often accuse me of same). And yes, I can already feel the heat and humidity of southern COsta Rica seeping into my bones...
My name is Ketzel Levine and I started the Heart of Barkness as a place where unwanted Ecuadorean dogs were taught the art of family living. Now it's the place where one such family lives. Mine.

ReplyDeleteVery sweet. The Peaceable Ketzeldom.
ReplyDeleteI'm sure they are dreaming up ideas for the Levine Bio-Unit to move forward with. I see a catnip farm and dog biscuit bakery in your future.
Stay warm. A friend has been sending me photos of herself and friends cross country skiing in your fair and snowy town.
Have a great weekend.

ReplyDeleteWow -- your kitty looks like my kitty and your beagle looks like my beagle. They are helping me recover from the flu at the moment.

ReplyDeleteJust don't dress them up in little outfits...that is the road to the dark side.
ReplyDeleteNo hats, no clothes. That is a promise.
ReplyDelete"Why be Anonymous? After all, I've showed you mine." Yes, but first we have to agree that if you show me yours, I have to show you mine..... ;)
ReplyDeleteEverything happens for a reason. I look forward to seeing you flower and grow from the new opportunities that await you!
