I remember crossing paths with him at the Scott Arboretum at Swarthmore College and ending up with a hideously purple spray painted planter with zig zags cut into it like Jughead's hat. And I vaguely remember the tsuris involved in getting that beast back home.
So guess what I just stumbled into on the Huffington Post? Tire planters for green homes, the latest from Barcelona in European eco-design. Alas I couldn't read the manufacturer's website but if the pot's weight isn't prohibitive, it seems just the thing for the eco-friendly but plant-shy 20-something young market that the old fart garden world is desperate to engage.
