ONE LESS BEAGLE TO LOVE - PT 1

I heard the news today. Oh boy.

My beloved beagle Starry has died.

  1. I am so sorry to hear this. In fact, tears sprang to my eyes. Your report on the dog show, where a beagle had won Best in Show, is the reason I first contacted you so many years ago. It remains my favorite NPR story to this day. Starry played a big part in the story and your perspective in crafting the story. Then shortly afterward, Starry wandered off and was lost - during which time I worried as much as if she were part of my family. She will live on in my heart, as I know she will in yours. She couldn't have asked for a better human with whom to share her life. Hugs to you.

  2. Thank you, Connie. I'd forgotten about that story and will post it in my follow-up about Starry. And while I'd forgotten about that one particular disappearing act, I will never forget the dozens of others, each of which ended happily. Throughout our years together, Starry defied all odds!

  3. Always willing and usually able to make a great escape out the door- any door-, Starlet was the epitome of soul. Her last Great Escape probably felt the same to her, out into the grand world to see what she could see, smell the smells, and get as far away as possible.
    Farewell you little EverReady being!

  4. I am so sorry for your loss. I never got to meet Starry, but am sure she was a best friend to the end. Pam Feltman
